To be a supervisor, security guards or security officers must undergo security supervisor training and pass a test on the country’s private security regulations. In this article, we’ll provide you with resources and details about our free security supervisor training course.

As the concept of professional security has grown in developed countries, it has become mandatory for a security guard to learn critical security skills through training and obtain a license from the private security regulatory authority before performing security tasks.

Candidates undergoing basic security guard training will learn the necessary skills for daily security operations. In contrast, those undergoing supervisory training will gain additional knowledge, such as leadership, management, and security planning, among other things.

There are fundamental differences between BSG (Basic Security Guard) training and security supervisor training.

Today’s supervisor is tomorrow’s security manager; therefore, most of the modules in this training are management-related.

I’ve published several videos on my YouTube channel about basic security guard training, and more information about security guard training is available here.

Types of security supervisors;

  1. Private security industry’s security supervisor:

The private security firm that provides the client with man-guards also has the position of security supervisors.

If you are the supervisor of these types of businesses, you would be the patrolling supervisor responsible for visiting clients’ locations and interacting with clients and security guards regarding security matters.

Additionally, the patrolling supervisor inspects the security guard while they are on duty; any concerns about the guard’s performance from the client, he/she needs to report to the company management.

Some security supervisors also serve on client sites appointed by security contractors or companies; they are solely responsible for mobilizing, monitoring, and controlling security guards on those sites.

2. In-house security supervisor;

This security supervisor is not from a private security firm; if the industry is big, it would have its own internal security department, just like finance, logistics, human resources, and sales, among others.

In the security department, there may be some security personnel, including the security manager.

Although most of the security staff are supplied by the security contractor, the internal security supervisor is responsible for monitoring, instructing, and communicating with the contractors and company management about the security of the specific organization.
